Domingo Urges Not to Expect Any Miracle from Shakib

Bangladesh's head coach Russell Domingo urged everyone to be careful with Shakib Al Hasan and not expect a miracle from the all-rounder when he returns to cricket.

Shakib's ban on serving now due to his failure to reveal corrupt bookie approaches will be lifted on October 29. He is eligible to play cricket since that day.

As it was seen in the past that Shakib always made his way back to the ground with a bang, the fans have been expecting him to do something like that again.

But according to Domingo, the situation is different now that Shakib needs to adapt to cricket first after a gap of one year.

"Shakib is like a lot of other players, they need to get used to playing cricket. So if you want him to come right away and perform huge miracles, you have to be careful with him, "Domingo said in a virtual press conference with the media today.

"He hasn't played cricket for a year. He's very keen to play. He's the best all-rounder in the world. But he's still going to need to find his way. There's a major difference between facing downs and bowling machines, and facing a 140kph bowler in pressure situations.

Domingo told Shakib that he was working very hard to make things easier once he returns to cricket.

“I spoke to him yesterday. He is working hard on his fitness. He is out of the country at the moment. He will also need some time to find his feet, and get his confidence back. We know he is a quality player, so I expect him to have a fantastic 2021 season for Bangladesh,” he concluded.
