New Zealand captain Kane Williamson has topped the ICC Test batsman
rankings again, overtaking Australia's Steven Smith.
Williamson is now at the top with 901 ratings. Smith is in second place
with a rating of 891. Williamson failed to show himself in the two-match Test
series against England earlier this month. He dropped to second place in the
rankings due to poor performance.
However, Williamson scored 49 and unbeaten 52 in the two innings of the
final of the World Test Championship. As a result, he removed Smith and
returned to the top of the rankings. In that final, New Zealand defeated India
by 8 wickets to win the first Test championship.
Ross Taylor, Devon Conway, Kyle Jamieson and Trent Bolt have also
improved their rankings through their final match's performances.
Despite scoring 11 in the first innings, Taylor ensured New Zealand's
victory in the second innings with an unbroken partnership of 96 for the third
wicket. He scored an 47 runs (Not-out). Taylor moved up three places to 14th
place.
