Bangladesh kicked off the SAFF Championship 2021 campaign in style as they cruised to a comfortable 1-0 victory over Sri Lanka in their opening match on Friday, reports media.
The only goal of the match came from the spot when defender Topu Barman converted a penalty in the 56th minute.
Sri Lanka, the only team in the SAFF Championship ranked lower than Bangladesh, were reduced to 10-men in the 55th minute when defender Duckson Puslas conceded a penalty and a second yellow card to see him sent off.
After that, Sri Lanka tried hard but could not create a good enough opportunity to trouble Oscar Bruzon’s men.
