T20 World Cup
Bangladesh Lose to Scotland by 6 Runs
Bangladesh lost their first match in the seventh edition of
the T20 World Cup by 6 runs against Scotland.
Tiger captain Mahmudullah decided to field after winning the
toss at Al Amarat Stadium in Oman on Sunday night (October 17).
The Scots, who batted first, lost nine wickets at the end of
the allotted 20 overs and scored 140 runs. In reply, Bangladesh lost 8 wickets
and stopped at 134 runs.
Batting for 141 runs, Bangladesh quickly lost two openers.
In the second over and 8 runs of the team,
Shakib Al Hasan, who came to bat after losing two wickets in
the beginning, could not bat with relief. However, the partnership with
Mushfiqur was trying to pull the team. Finally he went for big shots but ended
up with losing his wicket.
Mushfiqur also left the pitch soon after Shakib. Later, Afif
Hossain added 32 runs with the captain Mahmudullah. Nurul Hasan Sohan was
dismissed for 2 in the 19th over. When Mahmudullah got out in the fifth ball by
Brad Whale in the same over, Bangladesh's hopes of victory were doomed.
