Omicron-infected two women cricketers from Zimbabwe and the Delta-infected another member of the team have been admitted to Mugda Medical College Hospital in the capital.

Director (Acting) of Mugda Medical College Hospital Dr Md Niatuzzaman confirmed the matter on Tuesday (December 14) at noon.

He said two women cricketers and another member of the team were admitted to Mugda Hospital. Two of them are infected with the Omicron variant where another member of the team is infected by the Delta variant. Being hospitalized does not mean that their condition is serious.

"All three are fine," he said. Their physical condition is normal. They have been admitted to the hospital for observation only. Because there will not be adequate surveillance at home or in the hotel.

The two Bangladesh women's cricketers, who returned from Zimbabwe after playing in the World Cup qualifiers, tested positive on December 5. The matter was published on 6 December. Their samples are then re-examined. The Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) said that Omicron variant was found in their body on December 11.

The women cricketers went to Zimbabwe in early November to play in the World Cup qualifiers. They returned to the country on November 30 after visiting several countries after the mid-term qualifiers were postponed due to Omicron.
