FIFA,
the world's top football governing body, has been trying to host the World Cup
for two consecutive years. If their plan succeeds, FIFA will offer an
additional Tk 137 crore over the next four years to member states' federations.
As a result, Bangladesh, which is lagging behind the top-ranked teams like
Brazil, Argentina, and France, will also get this extra money.
FIFA
sent lucrative proposals for 210 federations to the Global Summit online on
Monday night.
The
summit was attended by 206 members from 210 federations. There, FIFA president
Gianni Infantino said: "Neutral experts have suggested that hosting the
World Cup for two consecutive years would increase revenue by more than $440
Crore in the
first four years." This fund will be divided among 211 members.
According
to the FIFA president, the federations currently receive $6 million (Tk 51.43 crore)
per cycle, which will increase to about $2.05 Crore (Tk 214.28 crore). Distribution
may vary according to FIFA's governing policy.
Most
football federations can agree to FIFA's tempting offer. The Bangladesh
Football Federation (BFF) has already agreed to host the World Cup for two
consecutive years. As a result, the country's football governing body will have
the opportunity to earn a huge amount of money.
