Barishal Receives Shakib Blow Ahead Of BPL Final

Fortune Barishal received a huge blow ahead of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) final against Cumilla Victorians when their captain Shakib Al Hasan suffered from a stomach bug, which prevented him from practicing today.

The final is scheduled for Friday at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium. However an official of Fortune Barishal said he will be okay to lead the side in the final as his problem is not serious enough, according to the doctors.

The ace allrounder also missed the captain's photo session with the BPL trophy. In absence of him, Nurul Hasan Sohan came to pose with the trophy with Cumilla Victorians captain Imrul Kayes.

"He (Shakib) practiced yesterday and today he did gym at the hotel but after that he suffered from the stomach problem," Sohan said today.

"I came here to pose with the trophy as the team management advised me to do so."

Shakib has been in form of his life in the ongoing BPL, performing up to the mark that saw him being adjudged man of the match for the unique record five matches in a row.

His side confirmed the final in first attempt, edging Cumilla past by 10 runs in the first Qualifier. Shakib however was off colour in that match.

Shakib had recently remained unsold in IPL auction after no one showed interest in recruiting him. It is believed since he will miss some part of IPL due to his national commitment, no teams showed their interest about him.
