Bangladesh
has made history by winning gold for the first time in this year's South Asian
Junior and Cadet Table Tennis Championship.
Bangladesh
won the gold medal by defeating Sri Lanka in the final of the event held in
Male, the capital of Maldives on Tuesday (May 10).
Muhutasin
Ahmed Hridoy, Ramhim Leon Bom, and Nafiz Iqbal got this success in the team event
in the under-19 category.
Bangladesh
had a good start to the match. Although Hridoy and Ramhim won in the beginning,
Nafiz lost. Then Bangladesh led 2-1. Then Ramhim started playing again. But
this time Sri Lanka lost to Ramhim and returned to the match. The fiercely
competitive final match then drew 2-2. At the end of all, Hridoy won 8-11,
11-9, 11-9, and 11-9 sets and made Bangladesh happy to win gold.
Earlier,
Bangladesh lost to Pakistan, hosts the Maldives, and Nepal on the way to the final.
