Tigers End Day Two with 222-Run Lead

Bangladesh ended the second day of their second Test against Sri Lanka at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium with a 222-run lead on Tuesday as Sri Lanka scored 143-2 after the Tigers were bowled out for 365, reports media.

Lankan skipper Dimuth Karunaratne (70*) was unbeaten at the end of the day along with nightwatchman Kasun Rajitha (0*).

Earlier in the day, Bangladesh were bowled out for 365 as Mushfiqur Rahim ran out of partners. The right-handed batsman stayed unbeaten on 175, his fifth 150+ innings in Tests.

Bangladesh started the day on 277-5 with Liton Das and Mushfiq at the crease. Liton was out for 141, and Mosaddek Hossain, who made his return to the Test fray, followed suit as both were Rajitha.

Mushfiq managed to keep the scoreboard ticking, and for the last three wickets, he brought the team valuable 69 runs.

In reply, Sri Lanka started really well as their openers Karunaratne and Oshada Fernando put together 95. Ebadot Hossain dismissed Oshada (57) but Karunaratne kept going.

Kusal Mendis, who was at the hospital the previous day due to muscle spasms, managed only 11 as Shakib Al Hasan trapped him LBW.

Sri Lanka managed to finish the day without any more casualties.

The first Test between the sides was a draw and Bangladesh will look to seal a series win in Dhaka, but they have a lot of work left.
