The FIFA world cup trophy arrived in Dhaka. It reached Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport by a Coca-Cola chartered flight at 10:45 am on Wednesday (June 8). The trophy came from Pakistan on its way to 56 countries. 

Christian Karembu, the footballer who won the World Cup against France in 1998, came to Bangladesh with the World Cup trophy. In addition to him, a few other FIFA officials came with the trophy. BFF President Kazi Salauddin received the trophy from them in Bangladesh. He was accompanied by BFF executive member and FIFA council member Mahfuza Akter Kiran and many others.

The trophy weighing 6.142 kg made of pure gold will go to Bangabhaban in the afternoon. It will be taken in the evening at the Prime Minister's residence Ganabhaban. It will be open to the public at the Army Stadium the next day.

Regarding this, BFF general secretary Abu Naim Sohag told the media, "The trophy will go from Bangladesh to East Timor. There is no trophy exhibition on June 8. On this day only the trophy will go to Bangabhaban and Ganbhaban. The next afternoon there will be a concert at the Army Stadium. Although there is public access to the concert, the opportunity to take pictures will be limited."
