Bangladesh Cricket Team head coach
Russell Domingo has finally left the job of BCB.
Russell Domingue himself
confirmed this news on the phone from South Africa on Wednesday (August 24).
He claimed to have decided to
leave the job after discussing with his family back home.
However, according to the BCB
cricket management department, Domingo is still the head coach according to the
contract. BCB also said that it has not received the resignation letter from
Domingo till yesterday.
Incidentally, Domingo was not
having a good time in Bangladesh. A person associated with the national team
said that his relationship with the coaching staff and the cricketers had
deteriorated. Distance with pace bowling coach Allan Donald was created over
various issues. The two used to travel on different flights while returning to
Dhaka from South Africa.
The BCB complained that Domingo's
singular authority was not accepted by the rest of the coaching staff.
Cricketers were upset as his growing apathy towards the national team.
When asked why he quit his job,
Domingo said, "My time at BCB is over." No longer staying.' The
counter question was, are you really leaving BCB? Domingo's two-word reply,
'Yes sir.'
Tiger head coach accepted most of
the complaints made by BCB. There are some counter-complaints from his side. No
one from the board agreed to say anything about it.
BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury did
not pick up the phone as confirmation of Domingo's official resignation did not
go through. But according to the terms of the contract, Domingo is supposed to
resign after November 30. In that case also he has to give three months' notice.
Of course, anything can happen if both parties agree.
