Bangladesh won against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) by seven runs in the first game of the two-match series at Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai.

Earlier, Afif Hossain's career-best 77 off 55 and skipper Nurul Hasan's 35 off 25 guided visiting Bangladesh to post 158/5 against the UAE.

After winning the toss, UAE captain Chundangapoyil Rizwan won the toss and asked Bangladesh to bat first. Sabbir Rahman and Mehidy Hasan Miraz open the innings for Bangladesh. But Sabbir got out in the second over for naught. Litton Das, (13 off 8) and Mehidy Hasan Miraz 12 off 13 got out in quick succession leaving Bangladesh 3-35 in 4.4 over.

Yasir Ali Chowdhury, who is playing his only second match in this format after his debut match against Afghanistan earlier this year got out for 4 off 7. Mosaddek Hossain also followed him leaving Bangladesh 5 down for 77 in 11 overs.

From here, Bangladesh got a fighting total of 155/5 thanks to Afif Hossain's career-best 77 and skipper Nurul Hasan Sohan's 25-ball 35. They post 81 runs off just 54 balls for the unbroken sixth wickets stand.

For UAE, Karthik Meiyappan took 2/33, Sabir Ali 1/16, Zawar Farid 1/38 and Aayan Afzal Khan 1/16.
