The World Football Governing Body FIFA has fined Bangladesh
Football Federation (BFF) more than Tk 1 crore for allegedly breaching the contract with Coach
Jamie Day.
Earlier, former Bangladesh football coach Jamie Day
complained to FIFA to ask for his due salary. Football's highest governing body
has called the two sides for a hearing on October 11, taking into account the
allegations. The final verdict came today.
Bangladesh national team former coach Jamie Day who was
ahead of many coaches in the past in terms of success. BFF had a contract with
him till August this year. But in October last year, Jamie was suddenly
relieved of his duties. He claimed that the agreement to receive salary till
August was from BFF. But BFF did not give it.
Jamie Day has been fighting a legal battle for the past few
months. BFF also presented arguments in its favor to FIFA.
Note that in 2018, Jamie Day took charge as the head coach
of the Bangladesh national football team. Then on September 17, 2021, he was
removed from office. At that time, Bashundhara Kings' Spanish coach Oscar
Bruzon served as the interim head coach for two months instead of Jamie.
Bangladesh's national football team played 29 international
matches under him. Unsatisfied with Jamie's work, BFF fired him a year before
the end of his contract.
