Bangladesh opt to bat against Sri Lanka, loses one wicket

Bangladesh won the toss and decided to bat in their first match in the Asia Cup. This time Bangladesh's Asia Cup mission is starting with a match against co-hosts Sri Lanka in the hybrid model.

Today Thursday (August 31) the Bangladesh-Sri Lanka match at Pallekele Cricket Stadium in Kandy has started. Although the match is on the ground of the Lankans, Bangladesh has entered the field as a favorite judging by the recent performance.

Earlier Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan has won the toss and elected to bat. 

Meanwhile Bangladesh lost first wicket of opener Tanzid Hasan Tamim who made his debut from lbw. While all-rounder Sheikh Mahedi was named in the eleven for the first time since his debut series in New Zealand in 2021 as the Tigers went with three seamers and as many spin options. 

While preparing the report abngladesh scored 18 runs by one wicket. Naim sheikh and Najmul Hasan Shanto are still bating. 

Earlier Sri Lanka captain Dasun Shanaka said,"it is a good toss to lose with rain around the corner,"
