Bangladesh started the match against Afghanistan in Pakistan's Lahore under pressure. Chandika Hathurusingha's disciples came to bat first, following the equation that if they lose, they are out. However, the Tigers secured their position in the Super Four of the Asia Cup by defeating Afghanistan by a big margin of 89 runs.

After a miserable loss in the first match, Bangladesh was not only looking to win to get a place in the Super Four. Rather, the run rate equation had to be confirmed.

Bangladesh's net run rate in Group 'B' of the Asia Cup was in the negative, below zero—minus decimal 951. In such a situation, Bangladesh faced many challenges to increase the run rate. However, Bangladesh batted brilliantly. Bangladesh averaged a big score of 334 runs with a flurry of runs.

Bangladesh had to stop Afghanistan's Rashid Khan-Hasmat Ullah by 279 runs to reach the Super Four. Which the Bangladeshi bowlers have done well. They stopped Afghanistan to 245 runs.

The next match in the group will then be a life-and-death battle between Sri Lanka-Afghanistan. Those who win will go to the Super Four. If Sri Lanka wins, the Afghans will be eliminated with two losses in two matches. And if Afghanistan wins, the run rate of the Lankans will decrease. In that case, the current champions will be excluded as per the run rate.
