Mahmudullah Riyad achieved a significant milestone by becoming the fourth Bangladeshi batsman to reach the 5,000-run mark in One Day Internationals (ODIs).

This achievement occurred during Bangladesh's third and final match against New Zealand in Mirpur on Tuesday, with the team rallying around a strong half-century performance by Najmul Hossain Shanto.

In the 16th over of the match, Mahmudullah, a right-handed batsman, attained this feat by scoring a single run off Lockie Ferguson. Prior to Mahmudullah, Tamim Iqbal, Shakib Al Hasan, and Mushfiqur Rahim were the other three batsmen from Bangladesh who had reached this significant milestone.

At the time of Mahmudullah's achievement, he was at a score of 10 runs, partnering with Shanto, who was serving as the interim captain and had scored 51 runs. This partnership helped Bangladesh reach a total of 112 for 4 after 21 overs.
