Bangladesh's bowling, led by Shakib Al Hasan, displayed impressive performance in their inaugural World Cup match as they dismissed Afghanistan for 156 runs in 37.2 overs in Dharamshala today.

Opting to field first, Captain Shakib and Mehedi Hasan Miraz secured three wickets each, while Shoriful Islam claimed two. Mustafizur Rahman and Taskin also made contributions to the wickets column.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz, the key batsman, was dismissed by Mustafizur Rahman after scoring the team's highest 47 runs.

Despite Afghanistan's relatively strong position at 112 for two, they lost their final eight wickets for just 44 runs.

Shakib, who had previously taken 5-29 in a corresponding World Cup match four years ago during Bangladesh's 62-run victory, took the initial two wickets to fall.

The left-arm spinner delivered an excellent performance with figures of 3-30 in his opening eight overs, and his bowling changes also resulted in valuable wickets.
