Allan Donald, Shrinivas Bid Farewell To BD Cricket

Allan Donald, Bangladesh’s pace bowling coach, has announced that he will no longer be associated with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). He made it clear that he would not be returning to Dhaka after Bangladesh’s final match in the ICC World Cup 2023 against Australia on Saturday.

Donald recently found himself in the midst of controversy after the former South African superstar criticized Bangladesh captain Shakib al-Hasan's decision to impose a timed-out dismissal on Sri Lanka’s batter Angelo Mathews in the World Cup clash between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.

This marked the first instance of a batter being timed out in international cricket, drawing mixed reactions from the cricketing fraternity. While some argued that the move was within the laws of cricket, others contended that everything legal is not necessarily morally right.

Expressing his immediate thoughts after the incident, Donald stated that he considered Bangladesh to be a team that should not engage in such actions. He contemplated going onto the field and saying, "Enough is enough; we are not that kind of team".

Following the public airing of his comments about the dismissal, the BCB issued him a show-cause notice. It appears that Donald did not take this lightly, promptly announcing his decision to return to South Africa directly from India.

Donald was appointed as Bangladesh’s bowling coach in March 2022 and played a significant role in enhancing the quality of the pace attack, including players like Ebadot Hossain and Taskin Ahmed.

Meanwhile, Shrinivas Chandrasekaran, the longtime performance analyst of the Bangladesh cricket team, has also bid farewell to the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).

The Indian analyst has announced that he will no longer be associated with the BCB, concluding his role as the performance analyst with Bangladesh’s final World Cup 2023 match against Australia, scheduled for Saturday.

Shrinivas joined the Bangladesh team in 2018 and has been an integral part of the staff ever since.

“It's with a heavy heart that I say goodbye to Bangladesh cricket after tomorrow's game against Australia!!” Shrinivas wrote on his social media profile. “It’s been a journey full of learnings, memories, ups and downs, but something I will cherish for the rest of my life.”
