The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has finalized a new guideline on mobile data packages. It does not have 3 and 15-day data packages. As per the new guidelines, the number of packages will be a maximum of 40. The period will be 7 days, 30 days, and unlimited (no fixed period). It will be effective from October 15.

In 2022, keeping in mind the convenience of the customers, BTRC fixed a maximum of 95 data packages for mobile operators of 3, 7, 15, 30 days, and unlimited periods.

On May 30 of this year, BTRC presented the results of a survey on the price of packages and data. 44.5 percent of the data users who participated in the survey wanted the existing five periods of 3, 7, 15, 30 days and unlimited to be maintained. On the other hand, 52.9 percent of customers were in favor of 7, 30, and unlimited term packages. Accordingly, the 3 and 15-day period is being canceled.

Meanwhile, the information given by the mobile operators says that the three-day period package is the most popular. It will have a negative impact on internet users if the 3-day package is canceled. According to the sources of the operators, 69.23 percent of customers in the country use a 3-day period, 16.84 percent 7-day period, 3.82 percent 15-day period, and 10.11 percent use a 30-day period.

Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) says that consumers are confused by additional packages. Such a decision is being taken at their request.
