Tourist Gatherings Banned in the Satkhira Range of Sundarbans

The Forest Department has banned tourists from traveling in the Satkhira Range area of ​​the western Sundarbans on Tuesday and Wednesday. At the same time, no new fisherman,  bawalis (wood collector) can enter the Sundarbans during these two days. 

MA Hasan, Forest Conservator (ACF) of the Satkhira Range in the western Sundarbans, confirmed the matter on Monday, saying the decision was taken on the occasion of Denmark Princess Mary Elizabeth Donaldson's visit to Shyamnagar in Satkhira and a visit to the Sundarbans.

The forest conservator further said that Princess Mary Elizabeth Donaldson will visit Shyamnagar upazila of Satkhira district on Wednesday. Tourists have been barred from entering the Sundarbans in the Satkhira Range on Tuesday and Wednesday, keeping in mind the overall safety of the princess.

During these two days, no one will be allowed to enter the Sundarbans, especially the Kalagachhi and Dobeki tourist centers through Burigoalini station and Munshiganj outpost.

It is learned that Princess Mary Elizabeth Donaldson will land at Tiger Point of a private company by helicopter in Munshiganj Union of Shyamnagar Upazila at 9.30 am on Wednesday. From there she will visit climate tolerant agriculture in Kultali area of ​​Munshiganj Union by car. At the same time, the princess will visit 'Akash Leena Eco Tourism' eco-park on the Sundarbans coast.

The princess will also visit cyclone shelters and embankments in areas where people are at risk and talk to the affected people living along the embankment. 

She will be staying at Bursa Resort in Burigoalini Union at noon. She will also travel to the Sundarbans. The Danish Princess will back in Dhaka by helicopter at 4pm on Wednesday.
