New Zealand Confirms Second Case of COVID-19

New Zealand confirmed the second case of COVID-19 on Wednesday, which was another imported case after the country's first case was confirmed last week.

A woman in her 30s has tested positive for the new virus since returning to Auckland from northern Italy last week. She and her father are still quarantined in the building.

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said New Zealand is well trained and has plans in place to cope with the outbreak.

The second confirmed case revealed that some patients with the virus still had mild to moderate symptoms so the patient was not expected to be admitted to hospital, Ardern said.

Medical workers monitor those in close contact with the second confirmed case, including passengers on board Air New Zealand flight NZ0283, from Singapore to Auckland on February 25, and two domestic flights between Auckland and Palmerston North on March 2nd.
