The Maharashtra Government of India is likely to prolong the second step of the lockdown – scheduled to end on 3 May – to 15 May in the hotspots of Mumbai and Pune to control the spread of COVID-19, the Indian Express reported.
At 811 on Saturday, Maharashtra reported the highest single-day peak in cases, taking a total of 7,682. Of the overall incidents, 5,049 were reported from Mumbai, and 1,030 were recorded from Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad.
India recorded 26,496 cases and 825 deaths before Sunday, according to the latest data from the worldometer.
