Trump Says Evidence Linking China Lab to Virus, Threatens Fresh Tariff

On Thursday, US President Donald Trump threatened China with fresh tariffs as he turned up his attacks on Beijing over the coronavirus outbreak, saying he had seen facts linking a Wuhan laboratory to the infection.

The Republican incumbent's diatribe came as reports revealed the US was losing more than 30 million workers in six weeks, as shutdown policies started to hit around the country, AFP said.

The depression in the rising economy in the world has found its counterpart across the Atlantic, where observers cautioned of an imminent financial crisis in Europe.

The outbreak of the novel coronavirus has so far killed more than 230,000 people and forced more than half of humanity to live under some kind of lockdown, which has crippled economies.

The virus is believed to have originated late last year in a market in the Chinese city of Wuhan that sold wild animals for human consumption, but speculation has swirled about a top-secret lab in the ground-zero city.
