1,200 Bangladeshis Return Home from Maldives

Some 1,200 Bangladeshis who have been identified as undocumented or irregular workers have recently returned home.

Bangladesh High Commission in Male released an emergency notification saying that more workers will be heading home by 3-4 flights by 5 June.

They are being repatriated under the Maldivian government's scheme to repatriate irregular or undocumented migrant workers, it added.

In addition, all Bangladeshi employees – both legal and illegal – will be allowed to return home once the normal flight service is restored.
