China Reports 19 New Covid-19 Cases, Including 7 in Beijing

On Tuesday, China registered 19 new cases of coronavirus in the mainland for June 29, up from 12 a day earlier, the health authority said. No recent fatalities have happened.

Of the latest infections, seven were in Beijing, the National Health Commission said in a release.

The capital city, which is dealing with a fresh epidemic, also announced seven new infections on June 28.

Mainland China registered four new asymptomatic patients who had been tested positive for Covid-19 but had no clinical symptoms such as fever, down from six a day earlier.

As of June 29, mainland China had a record of 83,531 confirmed coronavirus cases, with a death toll of 4,634.

Beijing has been performing widespread coronavirus monitoring since the city confirmed the first case of the most recent epidemic on 11 June. The infections were related to the Xinfadi wholesale food center in Beijing.

The State Post Bureau, which oversees the country’s postal service, said on Tuesday that as of June 27, 104,807 workers from major delivery firms in the city had been tested and no positive results were found, according to a report by state broadcaster CCTV.
