Global Covid-19 Infections Top 11.4 mn

Confirmed coronavirus infections exceeded 11,409,805 globally with 533,684 fatalities and more than 6.1 million recoveries as of Monday morning.

According to the latest report by Johns Hopkins University, the worst-hit US recorded 2,880,130 documented cases with 129,906 fatalities.

In addition, Brazil, which was in the second position with 64,867 reported deaths and 1,603,055 confirmed cases, while Russia registered the third-highest cases of COVID-19,-680,283 to date.

Meanwhile, on Sunday, India reported a total daily number of 24,912 incidents, the highest daily high since the country's first coronavirus detection.

Coronavirus cases were first reported in China in December last year.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) declared the coronavirus crisis a pandemic on March 11.

Situation in Bangladesh

The confirmed coronavirus death toll in Bangladesh crossed 2,000 on Sunday.

Health authorities reported the new death of 55 more people due to the deadly Covid-19 in the 24-hour period, which raised the death toll in Bangladesh to 2,052 men.

A further 2,738 new people were infected with coronavirus during the era, bringing the total number to 1,62,417.

Bangladesh confirmed its first cases on 8 March and its first death on 18 March, but there has been a significant rise in both new cases and deaths in recent weeks.

Later on Friday, Bangladesh placed 8th in the world, with 26,598 new Covid-19 cases registered by the WHO in the last seven days.
