India's coronavirus death toll reached 50,000 on Monday, with more than 900 new deaths registered in 24 hours, data from the health ministry shows.
Last week, the country overtook Britain with the world's fourth-highest number of fatalities, behind the United States, Brazil, and Mexico, and recorded 2.6 million infections, reports AFP.
India's death toll from the pandemic is now at 51,045, a rise of 941 from the previous day, according to the website of the Ministry of Health.
