India's COVID-19 Cases Mark 3mn

India's Covid-19 caseload reached 3 million on Sunday, according to the new data published by the Federal Ministry of Health.

The number of reported cases exceeded 3,044,940 with the discovery of 69,239 fresh cases over the last 24 hours, reports Xinhua.

The death toll related to the country's pandemic has risen to 56,706, although the world reported 912 deaths from Covid-19.
According to estimates, there are reportedly 707,668 open cases in India and 2,280,566 people have been diagnosed and discharged safely from hospitals.


Over the past few weeks, the Indian Government has been working on ramping up the processing of Covid-19 samples.

A total of 34,491,073 samples were screened before Friday, of which 1,023,836 were screened on Friday alone, according to the latest data published by the Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR).

This is the first time when more than one million samples were tested in a single day.

The death toll from Covid-19 globally reached 803,479 on Sunday, according to the Center for Systems Science and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University.

Besides, the number of confirmed cases stands at 23, 132, 289 according to JHU.

The United States and Brazil are the top two in both recorded incidents and fatalities, with 5,666,673 and 176,345 documented deaths in the United States and 3,582,362 and 114,250 documented deaths in Brazil.
