Trump Warns Biden Will 'Demolish American Dream

US President Donald Trump threatened that his Democratic opponent, Joe Biden, will "demolish" the American dream if he secured the White House in November.

Speaking on the final night of the Republican convention, the president characterized his rival as "the destroyer of American greatness," BBC reports.

He said the Democrats would release "violent anarchists" on US towns.

Mr Biden has a comfortable one-digit advantage over Mr Trump with 68 days before the electorate deliver their decision.

The conclusion of the Republican convention heralds a 10-week race to the voting day, and the coming fight is generally predicted to be one of the most uglier in living memory.

On Thursday night, the president asked americans for another four years in power, vowing to eradicate the coronavirus pandemic that has destroyed the US economy and to quell civil unrest caused by police killings of African Americans.

Mr. Trump embraced his party's nominee from the South Lawn of the White House on Thursday night.

"This election will decide whether we save the American dream," he said, "or whether we allow a socialist agenda to demolish our cherished destiny."

He added: "Your vote will decide whether we protect law-abiding Americans, or whether we give free rein to violent anarchists, agitators, and criminals who threaten our citizens."

Mr. Trump's response to the aggressive social justice demonstrations that have rocked the country in recent months came when hundreds of Black Lives Matter protestors protested outside the door of the White House.

Any of their screams and car horns could be seen on the South Lawn, following the latest fence being installed this week around the White House perimeter to hold the demonstrators at a distance.

He said the Democrats at their party convention last week had painted America as a place of racial, social, and economic injustice.

"So tonight," he said, "I ask you a very simple question - how can the Democrat party ask to lead our country when it spends so much time tearing down our country?

"In the left's backward view, they do not see America as the freest, just, and exceptional nation on earth. Instead, they see a wicked nation that must be punished for its sins."

In a blistering attack on his opponent's decades-long political career, he continued: "Joe Biden spent his entire career outsourcing the dreams of American workers, offshoring their jobs, opening their borders and sending their sons and daughters to fight in endless foreign wars."

While Mr. Trump described his rival as "a Trojan horse for fascism," Mr. Biden's lengthy background as a conservative democrat became a hindrance to him when he tried to win the nomination of his faction.

Mr Trump referenced Mr Biden more than 40 times; the Democrat did not address Mr Trump by name in his speech last week, while the President's disapproval permeated Mr Biden's remarks.

Mr Biden, who was vice-president under Barack Obama, hit back on Twitter, writing, "If Donald Trump claims you 're not going to be protected in Joe Biden 's America tonight, look around and question yourself: how secure do you feel in Donald Trump's America?"

Speaking via a video connection on Thursday night, Mr. Biden said he was preparing to reach the campaign trail again.

The Trump campaign has mocked him for running his campaign during the pandemic mostly from the basement of his home in Wilmington, Delaware, citing coronavirus prevention measures.

Mr Biden's running mate, Kamala Harris, delivered a speech half a mile from the White House earlier on Thursday, declaring: "Donald Trump doesn't understand the presidency."

She added: "Donald Trump has failed at the most basic and important job of a president of the United States: He failed to protect the American people, plain and simple."

The Senator from California did not answer any questions.

Mr Biden is claimed to have received endorsements on Friday from more than 160 individuals who served with former President George W. Bush or previous Republican presidential candidates Mitt Romney and John McCain.
