Trump Says Next Couple of Days the 'Real Test'

US President Donald Trump says he's doing fine, but that the "true test" will come in the next few days.

The video, posted on Twitter on Saturday night, comes after mixed signals about his health earlier in the day, after being diagnosed with Covid-19, reports BBC.

Late on Saturday, the president's physician said Mr Trump was doing well and had made "substantial improvement after diagnosis."

Mr Trump is staying in the hospital for his second night.

In a tweet, Dr Sean Conley said that "while not out of the woods yet, the team remains cautiously positive" about the status of the president.

A few hours earlier, Mr. Trump, dressed in a suit jacket and shirt with no tie, thanked the doctors and nurses at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center near Washington DC, where he is being treated, in a four-minute video clip.

"I came here, wasn't feeling so well, I'm much better now," he said, later adding: "Over the next period of a few days I guess that's the real test. We'll be seeing what happens over those next couple of days."

He said that he wanted to get back on the track of the campaign. Mr Trump faces Joe Biden in the presidential election on November 3.

The positive diagnosis of Covid-19 made public by the president early on Friday in a tweet, upended his campaign and also put doubt on his effort to have a new judge from the Supreme Court approved before polling day.

What do we know about Mr Trump's condition?

On Saturday morning, Dr. Conley said that, for the time being, the President had not been given extra oxygen and had been fever-free for 24 hours.

The president is expected to stay for a "few days" at Walter Reed, according to the White House.

Dr Conley said he was "cautiously optimistic" about Mr Trump's condition but that he could not give a timetable for his discharge.
