Congress Leader Rahul Gandhi Infected with Covid-19

Indian Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has tweeted to say that he has tested positive for the Covid-19 infection.

Rahul Gandhi said he had mild symptoms of Covid-19. Rahul Gandhi, 50, also asked all those who may have come into his contact in the past few days to get themselves tested.

In a tweet, Rahul Gandhi said, "After experiencing mild symptoms, I’ve just tested positive for COVID. All those who’ve been in contact with me recently, please follow all safety protocols and stay safe."

Rahul Gandhi had held an election rally on April 14 in West Bengal's Uttar Dinajpur. He later announced the cancellation of all his rallies in West Bengal over a frightening surge in Covid-19 cases across the country. India has been registering over 2.5 lakh Covid-19 virus cases for the past three days.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a tweet said: "I pray for the good health and quick recovery of Lok Sabha MP Shri @RahulGandhi Ji."

On Monday, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi after he tested positive for the infection.

Manmohan Singh, 88, was admitted to the AIIMS trauma center, which is a dedicated Covid facility. Manmohan Singh had a mild fever in the morning and later tested positive for Covid-19. The doctors are monitoring his condition. Manmohan Singh had taken the two doses of the Covid-19 vaccine on March 4 and April 3.

Meanwhile, another Congress leader, Anand Sharma has tested positive for Covid-19 and has been shifted to a private hospital in Gurgaon. The 68-year-old Sharma (68), who was admitted to the Apollo Hospital in Delhi late last night, tested positive for the infection Tuesday and has now been moved to the Medanta Hospital.

Two more top Congress leaders, Randeep Singh Surjewala and Digvijaya Singh had tested positive for the viral infection last week. Among other party leaders who have tested positive for coronavirus, Bhupinder Singh Hooda and Randeep Surjewala are being treated at the Medanta Hospital in Gurgaon.
