Saudi Arabia on Sunday shipped 80 tons of liquid oxygen to India to assist the country with the treatment of skyrocketing numbers of Covid-19 patients.

The shipment was sent in coordination with Adani group and Linde company, according to Times of India.

“Embassy of India is proud to partner with Adani group and M/s Linde in shipping much needed 80MT liquid oxygen to India. Our heartfelt thanks to the Ministry of Health Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for all their help, support, and cooperation,” said a tweet from the Indian embassy in Riyad as quoted by the Indian media outlet.

India set a new global record of the greatest number of Covid-19 infections in a day, as Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday urged all citizens to be vaccinated and exercise caution, saying the "storm" of infections had shaken the country.

India's number of cases surged by 349,691 on Sunday, the fourth straight day of record peaks, and hospitals in Delhi and across the country are turning away patients after running out of medical oxygen and beds.
