An earthquake has struck the Indian state of Assam, with the tremors felt in as far as Bangladesh capital Dhaka.
The European Mediterranean Seismological Centre or EMSC said the magnitude 6.2 quake was at a depth of 10 km (6.21 miles).
The epicentre of the quake that struck at 8:21 am local time on Wednesday was very near the borders with Bangladesh and Bhutan, according to the map of US Geological Survey or USGS, reports media.
In Dhaka, many frightened residents woke up after the tremors.
No casualties or damage were reported immediately.
