The overall number of global Covid-19 cases has now crossed 632 million.
According to the latest global data, the total case count mounted to 632,046,555 while the death toll from the virus reached 6,579,768on Friday morning.
The US has recorded 99,037,439 cases so far, while 1,092,409 people have died from the virus in the country, both highest counts around the world.
India's daily Covid-19 caseload Thursday decreased to 1,494, officials said.
According to federal health ministry data released on Thursday morning, 1,494 new cases of Covid were reported in 24 hours, taking the total tally to 44,638,011 in the country.
With the reporting of fresh cases, India's active caseload currently stands at 27,004.
The country also logged 20 related deaths in 24 hours, pushing the overall death toll to 528,943 since the beginning of the pandemic, the ministry said.
Covid in Bangladesh
Bangladesh reported another Covid-19-linked death and 243 fresh cases in 24 hours till Thursday morning.
The country's total fatalities rose to 29,411 with the new deaths and the new cases raised the total caseload to 2,033,662, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The daily case test positivity rate dropped to 5.82 per cent from Wednesday’s 7.18 per cent as 4,174 samples were tested during the period.
The latest deceased was a woman from Sylhet division.
The mortality rate remained unchanged at 1.45 per cent and the recovery rate rose to 97.18 per cent.
