The number of fatalities in a terrorist attack in Moscow, the capital of Russia, has risen to 143. Eleven suspects, including four individuals carrying firearms, have been arrested in connection with the incident. This attack marks the deadliest in Russia in the past 20 years.

Although the Islamic State (IS) has claimed responsibility for the attack, Russia alleges Ukrainian involvement. However, Kyiv has denied these allegations.

According to a report in the Moscow Times on Sunday, March 24th, during a speech addressing the nation, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that four individuals directly involved in the attack have been apprehended. They were attempting to flee towards Ukraine. Initial information suggests that someone in Ukraine had already prepared a route for them.

Putin further stated that all perpetrators, including the four armed individuals, have been apprehended. Those who aided the terrorists will also be tracked down.

Various international media sources report that on March 7th, the American Embassy in Russia issued a security alert. The alert mentioned information about extremist groups planning an attack in Moscow on a large scale. The alert also mentioned the possibility of a concert being targeted. American citizens in Moscow were advised to remain vigilant for 48 hours following the alert.
